BRIDAL HAIRSTYLES: INSPIRED BY CELEBRITIES.

Dear brides, you’re about to get married to the love of your life and you are going crazy over your hair and dress. I immagine you’re hopefully searching social media for an idea about your wedding dress style, the ideal hairstyle and the perfect make up. And where better to start if not with celebrities who have taken this important step before you? We’d like to say in advance that, on the contrary to what people might think, these famous women who could chose anything, have opted for simple looks, with a refined, well-kept style. At the end of the day it is elegance that triumphs.

GRACE KELLY, 1956.

Up dos are a must for princesses and queens, because they are perfect for tiaras and crowns, even though the beautiful Grace refused to wear a tiara and opted for a head covering with a veil. This romantic bride chose an elegant, low chignon that focussed on her face, with its refined, regal traits. The dress had a corset with a top in Belgian lace, to which two silk skirts were attached.

AUDREY HEPBURN, 1954

When she got married the famous actress delighted in ignoring a lot of must-have looks. She had ultra-bold, straight eyebrows, when the fashion of the time dictated that they should be arched. She had short brown hair with a fringe, instead of platinum blond, which was the fashion of the time and a crown of flowers as her only ornament. And finally, most daring of all, a short skirt. A ballerina skirt, a high collar, buttons on the bodice, puffed sleeves and a bow around her waist. An unseen daring, delicate elegance for the anti-diva par excellence.

KATE MOSS, 2011

Now we come to the present day. For her wedding, the rebellious Kate Moss wanted a dress that recalled the ‘20s. The style of the veil and its lace definitely did. It was knotted like a hat on her head and held by two flowers on each side to leave her face uncovered. The dress was also faithful to the style of the age and although it seemed very simple, in reality it was covered with embroidered rhinestones, pearls and sequins, to create light effects. For her hairstyle, Kate opted for perfectly styled casual beach waves and minimal, almost invisible make up. We say ‘almost’ because nothing was left to chance. And we’ve left the best till last…the royal brides Kate and Meghan!

KATE MIDDLETON, 2011

On the most important day of her life, watched worldwide by millions of people, Kate chose to style her hair in an everyday fashion: left loose on her shoulders and gathered at the sides to support her veil. The dress, a combination of Victorian and modern style was created in ultra-light fabric, with a handmade lace bodice.

MEGHAN MARKLE, 2018

Now we come to the wedding of the year: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. If you like this new duchess’s hairstyle and you’d like to copy it, just tell your hairdresser to give you an ‘elegant, messy bun’, in the words of the hair stylist who created it, it is “an untidy up-do, but carefully created not to fall down and become too dishevelled in a few hours”. All this was created in 45 minutes with the help of a few hair clips. The classic, but very elegant dress had an hourglass shape with a boat neck, all topped by a 5-metre long veil. So what are the trends for brides in 2018? To be themselves, with no radical changes. That is the must for this year’s bride. Choose a casual style with free-spirited hair, even if it is gathered in an up-do and try to show it to the best, even if it is short. And don’t forget your veil! At the end of the day, on the happiest day of your life, be authentic – be yourself. Only in this way will you be as unique as the day you are experiencing!
