Those who have fine hair know that you need a lot of patience and dedication to give your hair some oomph. You dry your hair with your head upside down. You continually touch the roots to maintain a bit of volume and you need the right cut to avoid that terrible flat effect. It’s a situation that really puts you to the test. But, fortunately, not all is lost. There are remedies that help disguise hair lacking in volume. Discover which ones.

Lo Shampoo.

Let’s start with the basics. First, water shouldn’t be too hot. This is true for all types of hair, but in particular for hair that is naturally fine. Warm water is ideal. Avoid rubbing hair with a towel because you risk breaking it. Hair should be patted dry delicately to remove excess water. Perhaps not everyone knows, but hair with little volume is hair that is not well hydrated. The secret is therefore to balance the level of moisture in the hair fibre. Our Hairchitecture range is perfect for this. Our Volumizing Shampoo contains arctic cotton, with protective properties and ceramides, with volumizing properties, that provide excellent nourishment and protection for hair fibre. Its formula also helps maintain hydration – essential for volume at the roots and along the hair shaft. The result is light, voluminous hair. After shampooing, applying Volumizing Gel-Cream, creates a protective layer through the hair length, letting shine, compactness and body emerge. Hair appears thicker, more lively and full of volume. For deeper action, we suggest the highly moisturising Volumizing Water Gel professional treatment, which brings elasticity and volume to the hair shaft, redensifiying and reinforcing hair fibre without making it heavy.

Styling.

A little secret is to dry your hair with your head upside down with the diffusor, working it with your hands. This way your hair will be softer and have more body. Don’t forget to texturize it with a styling product. When your hair is half dry spray the IDOL BLOW UP VOLUME MAGNIFIER SPRAY to volumize the roots and spread a little through the length with your hands. The effect? Raised roots that are not flat and natural volume for your hair.

Cut.

The right cut can solve a large part of the problem. It has to be mid-length/short or short and slightly layered, without exaggerating, otherwise you only risk removing fullness. So yes to pixie cuts, bobs, lobs, messy pageboys, with soft, light, casual cuts like those we suggest in our new Autumn-Winter 2018/2019 haircut collection. Long hair is not advisable, because it tends to go flat against the scalp and have less volume, but if you really must have long hair, use products from our Hairchitecture range and follow the advice that we have given you on how to shampoo and style.

Colour.

Another touch that can make fine hair look more voluminous is to play with depth, creating highlights against a dark base and on the ends. We advise against a single colour without highlights, because it tends to make hair look flat. Because fine hair is also often fragile, it is important that the colour treatment is not too aggressive, but acts gently on the hair fibre, protecting and respecting it. The Etoilage colour treatment by Medavita creates natural highlights and luminous shades delicately, while fully respecting the scalp and hair. Finally, remember that diet can help fine hair. Vitamins, mineral salts, protein and zinc are essential elements for well-being and nourishment. Enrich your diet with salmon, eggs and meat for the right amount of protein. Dried fruit and nuts, a valuable source of zinc and magnesium, reinforce the hair shaft and roots. Vitamin C found in kiwis, cabbage, broccoli and pineapple promotes collagen synthesis. And water, which is essential for our whole body, helps hydrate the scalp and makes hair brighter.
