CLASSIC BLUE, PANTONE COLOR OF THE YEAR 2020. THE COLOR THAT BRINGS A SENSE OF TRANQUILITY
After the vibrant Living Coral hue in 2019, Pantone has chosen a sweet nuance as the 2020 colour of the year. A nuance that stands out for its versatility and presents itself as the perfect alternative to classic black. This isPANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue or simply Classic Blue. “A timeless and enduring blue hue... elegant in its simplicity. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of this thought-provoking colour highlight our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.” This is how Pantone announced Classic Blue as the Pantone Colour Of The Year 2020. But why Classic Blue? Because it’s a relaxing colour that brings a sense of peace and tranquillity that re-centres our thoughts, aiding concentration and bringing laser-like clarity. It’s the colour of resilience, that extraordinary human ability to reorganize one’s life when met with difficulty, without alienating one’s identity and remaining open to the opportunities that life offers. A shade of blue that evokes the sky, the infinite, and encourages us to go beyond the obvious. As it was predictable, Classic Blue will be the star of super-stylish garments and accessories and will inspire impactful make-up and hairstyles that won’t go unnoticed.

SETTING THE TREND FOR 2020.
The 2020 spring/summer fashion shows in September had already given it away. We saw a lot of blue in many collections, including Badgley Mischa, Salvatore Ferragamo, Yves Saint Laurent and Marco De Vincenzo. What colours match it? Blue always goes well with blue, so tone on tone is a must if you’re going for an elegant and classy look. A much more flashy and surprising combination is with acid shades, from of lemon yellow to lime green, for summer nights during which everything is allowed! Yves Saint Laurent paired blue with black; Giorgio Armani, with a powdery shade of turquoise. Jeremy Scott drew inspiration from Picasso to create a pant suit for Moschino, in which classic blue blends perfectly with white and yellow. Chanel presented a lovely white coat with a blue trim, paired with black pantyhose and an emerald green bucket purse. The result is extremely sophisticated and of great impact.
BLUE HAIR, WHO CAN WEAR IT?
Let’s face it. Blue hair looks amazing, but it’s not exactly an easy colour. You might be wondering “what if I don’t like it on me?” Let's start with the basics to see if blue can be the right colour for you. Blue is a cool colour; therefore, it suits women with a cool undertone (pink or olive). It’s perfect on pale, diaphanous and lunar complexions but make sure to use a bright lipstick and go heavy on the mascara. If you have an olive complexion, dark blue is better, but if you have a golden complexion, then blue is not for you as it would have a dull effect.  Dying all your hair blue is quite a big step. We recommend a more gradual approach, colouring just a few strands, an excellent solution for a great hair change without commitment. This way, you can add a bold, yet elegant and subtle touch to your hair. ONE NIGHT ONLY – 24HR FANCY HAIR COLOR SPRAY in Brazilian Blue is exactly what you need. Spray it onto lengths and ends, leave on for a few minutes, and voila! It washes out easily with shampoo, and you can use it again after shampooing. Fun, easy, and no regrets! If you have long raven hair, why not try a touch of midnight blue?It attenuates the black and creatively conceals grey hair, for a sexy, mysterious look that doesn’t draw too much attention.
MAKE-UP
MAKE-UP Blue dress, blue hair. What make-up is best? It depends on the shade of blue.
Eyes Dark blue goes perfectly with purple and burgundy eyeshadows. Otherwise, you can always opt for classic smokey eyes with cool neutral shades or a super-thin line of eyeliner and a touch of blue mascara. Simple but super chic. Electric blue allows for a vast array of combinations: tone on tone, contrasting emerald green, anthracite grey, dark blue, you name it. Perfect with shimmer eyeshadows in shades of silver.
Lips Remember that make-up has its rules. One of them is that you must choose the intensity of your lipstick based on the intensity of your eye make-up because the focus must either be on the lips or the eyes. The lipstick shades that go well with blue are those that range from baby pink to fuchsia or magenta. Orange works only with navy blue.
